About Rock While Rome Burns

 Rock While Rome Burns is primarily a vehicle for singer-songwriters Alan Graf and George Gelish. The band formed in the Fall of 2023 with the intention of combing that song smithing with an adventurous and diverse instrumental approach. "When you come to one of our gigs," George explains, "we want to take you on a musical journey." Indeed, in any given RWRB set, a listener might hear Hard Rock, Acoustic Rock, Country, Blues, Jam Rock or even a Bossa Nova. "The whole idea is not to be pigeonholed into any one thing," Alan adds. "We want to cover a wide swath of musical territory and keep things fresh."  George and Alan are joined by drummer John "JB" Burke.  JB's experience with "Jam" and Grateful Dead cover bands brings an element of spontaneity to the band's performances. 

In the tradition of other great trios like Hot Tuna and CSN, Rock While Rome Burns performs in both "electric" and "acoustic" versions.  Alan and George have been known to play on the street as a duo, or sometimes turn up in a local club with acoustic instruments.

We draw inspiration from a wide range of musical genres, including rock, pop, and folk. Some of our biggest influences include The Cream, Jimi Hendrix Experience, and Hot Tuna.

Over the years, we've had the privilege of collaborating with some amazing musicians and producers. These collaborations have helped shape our sound and push us to new creative heights.
